Who He Is
Njord is the father of Freyr and Freyja, a Vanir god who came to live among the Æsir after the war between the two tribes. He is the god of the sea, of wind, of wealth, and of fishing. His hall is Nóatún ("Ship-Enclosure"), on the shore of the sea. He was briefly married to the mountain giantess Skadi, but their worlds were too different—she could not bear the sound of the gulls, and he could not bear the howling of the wolves.
Njord is the god you call on when your livelihood depends on wind and water, when you seek prosperity through trade, or when you need the blessing of fair winds for any journey.

Prayer 1: For Wealth and Prosperity Through Work
Njord, Lord of Nóatún, the ships in your harbor come laden with wealth— not because luck favored them, but because skill guided them and the wind answered their call.
Bless my work, Njord. I am not asking for wealth without effort— I am asking for fair winds behind my effort. Let the trade be good, the opportunities be real, and the return be worthy of the risk.
Hail Njord, Lord of Wealth.
Prayer 2: For Those on the Water
Njord, hold the waves steady for those who sail today.
Whether they fish for their families, trade for their livelihoods, or travel across the deep to reach the ones they love—
Keep the wind fair and the water calm. Guard them from the storms they cannot see coming and give them the skill to weather the ones they can.
Bring them home safe, Njord. The shore is waiting.
Hail Njord, Keeper of Safe Harbors.
Prayer 3: For Financial Recovery
Njord, the tide goes out, and it comes back in. That is the nature of things.
My finances have gone out— far out—and I am standing on dry sand, watching, wondering if the water will return.
Send the tide back, Njord. Let the wealth flow in again— through work, through opportunity, through the honest channels that sustained me before.
I will manage it better this time. I have learned what the low tide teaches.
Hail Njord, Lord of the Returning Tide.
Prayer 4: For Generosity of Spirit
Njord, your wealth was legendary, but more than that—your generosity. You gave freely because abundance is not meant to be hoarded.
Teach me to give, Njord. When I have enough, let me share. When I have more than enough, let me give more. Loosen the grip of fear that tells me there will never be enough and replace it with the trust that generosity returns to the generous.
Hail Njord, the Open-Handed.
Prayer 5: For Connection to Water
Njord, the sea calls to something in me— an old pull, like a memory I cannot place.
When I stand at the shore, I feel more myself than anywhere else. The rhythm of the waves matches something in my blood.
Bless my relationship with water, Njord. Whether I swim, sail, fish, or simply watch— let it restore me. Let the salt air clean what needs cleaning. Let the sound of the waves wash away what does not serve me.
Hail Njord, God of the Living Sea.
